Why organisations need IT Recycling Services

The production, use and disposal of electronic equipment generates a significant amount of carbon, a major contributor to climate change. Nearly 5% of global emissions come from the production of electronic devices. E-waste makes up 70% of our overall global toxic waste yet only 18% of e-waste is recycled.

The UK is the 2nd highest contributor of e-waste in the world. Over the last 15 years, the amount of e-waste in the UK has doubled. By ensuring equipment is re-used, reduced and responsibly recycled, we encourage carbon avoidance and generate carbon savings for organisations across the UK.

It is crucial for organisations to partner with a trusted, certified company when looking for IT recycling solutions to ensure complete compliance.

Our IT Recycling Process

Choose ICT Reverse and you’ll have complete peace of mind that your sensitive data is managed and erased safely at every stage of the recycling process.

  • Secure Collection. We will arrange a secure collection of your IT equipment on a date and time convenient to you. At this stage, your order will be allocated a unique reference known as an (AAR). Once collected and returned to our approved, authorised, treatment facility (AATF) the data bearing items will be segregated into non-hazardous and hazardous WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment).

  • Secure Asset Tagging. Every item will be logged against the unique AAR number in order to provide you with a full asset management report for your redundant equipment. At this point a barcode label is produced with a unique reference number to that asset within the AAR number. This is displayed as a barcode on the asset and is scanned at each stage of the process which updates our system of its status and location.

  • Secure Data Wiping & Destruction. The technical process will then vary depending on the product type and customer requirements. In most cases, a data erasure process is performed to all data bearing assets using Blancco software. Any items that fail the data erasure process are removed and destroyed using the crusher or shredder.

  • Data Destruction Certificate. Following the process, you will receive a full Due Diligence Pack including all the necessary certification to demonstrate that you comply with the latest legislation in the event of an Environmental Audit. This includes a Duty of Care Waste Transfer Certificate, Asset Audit Report, Recovery Certificate, Blancco Report (if applicable) & Data Destruction Certificate (if applicable).

Benefits of IT recycling with ICT Reverse

There are so many benefits of IT recycling with ICT Reverse! These are just a few:

  • Cost effective solutions

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has the power to issue penalties up to Â£17.5 million or 4% of the total annual worldwide turnover, if a business is found in breach of the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR. Under this act, an organisation should not discard intact customer, staff or supplier information. Certified data erasure with Blancco or physical destruction of data sensitive elements offers the most secure cost effective solution. ICT Reverse offer both these solutions.

  • Helps enhance corporate social responsibility

Social value is at the heart of our business practice. Through various initiatives and collaboration with customers our social value activities help to support social, economic and environmental wellbeing of the local communities in which we operate. We work closely with our customers to help them to achieve their social value goals through the processing, re-using, recycling and donation of their redundant ICT assets.

  • Compliance with legal and environmental regulations

Providing secure reverse logistics and data erasure services requires a comprehensive and multi-faceted suite of legal and environmental certifications and approvals. We constantly strive to stay ahead of the requirements to operate in this sector and to be at the forefront of the latest legislation to give clients guarantee and peace of mind.

"I am delighted with the quality of the new mobile device recycling service from ICT Reverse.  The whole experience of dealing with them has been efficient and thorough.  There is always a risk when starting a relationship with a new supplier but the level of assurance the service has received from the beginning, has been exemplary."
